Dr. Jose Lutzky received his medical degree from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida, followed by training in hematology/oncology at Columbia University’s New York-Presbyterian Hospital. After completing his fellowship, Dr. Lutzky remained on the faculty at Columbia University and joined the faculty of the University of California, Irvine, where he directed the Multiple Myeloma/Lymphoma Program.
Dr. Lutzky joined Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center in 1994, where he is chief of the Hematology/Oncology Division. He is also the director of the Multidisciplinary Melanoma Program and chair of the Cancer Research Committee. Dr. Lutzky has extensive clinical research experience and interests, and has authored numerous articles and abstracts. Dr. Lutzky was recognized for his expertise in melanoma and prostate cancer by Newsweek and listed as one of America's Top Cancer Doctors. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology, and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
